All sorts of items have been being reported as missing in Portswood, a suburb located in the southern town of Southampton.
There have been reports of items that had been left outside, mostly hanging on the clothes line drying that have disappeared.
This time, the cat burglar has turned out to really be a cat.
Oscar, a 13 year old male cat, is being fostered by Peter, who is 72 years of age and his wife Birgitt Weismantel.
It appears Oscar really wants to please his new owners and become their cat for keeps. He starting bringing home presents to make them happy.
He started with socks, then gloves for working in the garden. Some things they found out where they came from and returned them.
Then he started bringing home ladies underwear.
They figure Oscar has been bringing home things about 10 times a day. That makes him committing 10 robberies per day.
They are presents for the couple fostering him.
The Weismantel’s are seriously considering adopting him. They feel he really wants to live with them since he keeps bringing them so many gifts.
Birgitt commented that they had fallen in love with him even before all the gifts started arriving.
Oscar is still bringing gifts home, but they are trying to figure out how to get him to change that habit.
