When the time you look at the mirror ,do you scared on your reflection? I don’t think so, but fish do.
Recently reseachers found that fish are frightened when they see “something” that move as them, yes, I mean their reflection. The biologist who led the study, Dr Julie Desjardins, said that this should be somewhat emotional response of fish. They are suprisingly to those fish that move as same with them. During the tests male African cichlids, a freshwater territorial fish, two testes had been brought out. One is the their own reflection shown and second is another fish shown in front of it in other glass. In either cases, the fish is trying to fight to the other fish.
The scientists tested the blood of the fish for the testosterone and other aggression-inducing hormones. All the fish showed high levels of testosterone. It result of high testosterone level in all fish. Dr Desjardins, of Stanford University, California, suggested the fear was due to the unfamiliarity of the encounter.
“The fact that we saw evidence of a really high level of activity in the amygdala is pretty exciting and surprising.” Said Dr Desjardins, of Stanford University, California.
