Happened in Florida
As Robert Boudreaux, a 31 year old man and his girlfriend were traveling along in her car, they ran out of gas in Deland, Florida. The girlfriend told the police that they were then picked up by an acquaintance who gave them a ride to Deltona. That was only a couple of miles from where her car had run out of gas. Still needing to get to the hospital, they started walking. The girlfriend was pregnant and the miles of walking were taking a toll on her. She began to dehydrate and had started to bleed.
Robert was concerned about his girlfriend and the baby. Her being dehydrated and then bleeding could be a dangerous thing and he must have feared her loosing the baby. Robert became frantic and tried to flag down several cars for help. None stopped to help them out. He was desperate to get her to a hospital before it was too late.
Carjacked Passing Car
As Robert grew more and more fearsome that he was unable to stop a car to get his girlfriend the help she needed, Robert walked in front of a passing car. This forced the car to stop. He then used a threat of shooting the driver, a 20 year old young man, if he didn’t drive them to the hospital. The man began the trip to the hospital but Robert was still very agitated and worried. When the man stopped at a stop light, Robert didn’t like it. He told the man to run it. The young man refused to go so Robert forced the driver to get out of the car. Said if he didn’t get out, he would shoot him. The driver then got out of car and Robert drove off to the hospital. He spent some time evading the police even at the hospital until he could do it no longer. The young man had contacted the police about the carjacking. Roberts 22 year old girlfriend was taken in for treatment. She was found to be suffering from heat exhaustion and released. She wasn’t held for the carjacking since she had told police she tried to get Robert to stop but he wouldn’t.
