Contaminated cotton swabs misled police for 16 years
Over a decade of investigations, having expensed so much resources, police officials realised that they had been misled by contaminated cotton swabs. According to police officials, they had found several similar DNA samples from the crime scene, which they thought could have orginated from the murderer. However, only after 16 years had the police discovered that the cotton swabs were contaminated with similar DNA from the same factory worker.
Everything might sounds impossible, considering that the cotton swabs had been handled by the same factory worker for the past 16 years. To make matter worse, no one had discovered in the manufacturing process that the swabs had been contaminated.
After all the hardwork, police are now back to the initial stage where the murder case happened 16 years ago.
