Ron Sveden was taken to the hospital with a collapsed lung.
He had been fighting emphysema for months and it was getting worse.
They did X-rays on his lungs which showed a growth in his lung. He was sure he had cancer.
Well, I imagine he was really elated when the doctors found the mass to be a pea plant growing in his lung.
Doctors figure that sometime, Ron must have been eating some peas and one went down his windpipe. Somehow the pea started growing.
He did have a good humor about the incident. When his fist vegetable he ate in the hospital was peas, he laughed about it.
The pea plant was about half of an inch in size.
“Whether this would have gone full-term and I’d be working for the Jolly Green Giant, I don’t know. I think the thing that finally dawned on me is that it wasn’t the cancer,” Mr Sveden said.
Ron is now at home in recovery. His wife is said to have joked that God must have a sense of humor.
I am guessing his emphysema has greatly improved too or gone away.
