Do you live in the western states of the United States or in eastern parts of Asia?
If you do you could be in for a real treat. In eastern Asia, it is the first time such a site has been seen. It should happen at dawn on Monday. As long as the skies are basically clear, people getting up in the early dawn hours on Monday should see it. After people in China, the northern parts of Taiwan and the southeastern parts of Japan have viewed the solar eclipse it will start becoming visible to people living in the western parts of the United States.
How the solar eclipse will move across the United States.
In Oregon, the northern parts of California, central area of Nevada, the southern parts of Utah, the northern parts of Arizona along with New Mexico and northern counties of Texas will start seeing the solar eclipse. It will start with Oregon late in the day on Sunday and will be seen in Texas at sunset. The actual ring of fire only last about 5 minutes but the actual eclipse will possibly be viewable for up to 2 hours.
What is going to happen?
If you are lucky enough to live in an area where the solar eclipse can be viewed, you will witness the moon looking as if it has moved across the sun and blocking out all the light except for the edges of the sun. This is what will seem like a ring of fire in the sky. Not all will get to see the ring of fire. Some may only see the moon as it partially covers the sun creating a crescent shaped eclipse. If you live in the most northern area of California, Arizona, south Utah or New Mexico, you have the best chance of seeing the ring of fire. This eclipse is not the same as a total eclipse which covers the whole sun. A total eclipse reveals the corona of the sun not any of the suns surface. That type of eclipse is considered the best. Since the sun is still going to be visible during the ring of fire solar eclipse, you are not advised to look directly at the sun. This could cause you to suffer eye problems afterwards. There are things you can do to try and catch the eclipse like cutting a circular whole in a piece of cardboard and holding it in the sunlight. The sunlight will pass through it making a shadow on the ground in the shape of what is happening to the sun and moon at the time.

I wish I lived in the area that would have a chance to witness this event. The Ring of Fire is so rare to see. We did have it happen once that I remember where we took a cardboard box to watch the shadow of the moon as it traveled across the sun. It was a wonderful experience.
