A couple who were told their baby was a girl when the mom gave birth to her/him 5 weeks ago has since been told that she is actually a he.
Olivia, now Dylan, was born 11 weeks early by a C-section. Ms. Robson and Andrew O’Shaughnessy had not been able to take their precious baby girl home yet.
They were preparing for her coming home by purchasing lots of pink frilly baby clothes.
On one of their visits to see Olivia at Wearside Hospital, a consultant took them away from the baby for a few minutes and explained that Olivia was in fact a boy.
Olivia’s new name is Dylan.
Dylan was born too early to be developed enough to see that he was in fact a boy. No one could tell. Once he was a little bit older, the difference was apparent that she was a he.
It was an adjustment, but his parents are fine with it.
“I love Dylan just as much. He’s the same baby,” said Ms Robson, who is now wondering what to do with a room filled with ‘baby girl’ cards sent by wellwishers.
I do hope all the frilly pinks can be exchanged and they get him some cute little blue jean overalls.
